Attorney Peyton Engel to Deliver Teleconference on Technology and Legal Ethics

On July 11, 2016, Attorney Peyton Engel will lead a national teleconference on the Legal Ethics of Smartphones, Email and Computers, offered through the National Business Institute.  This seminar will count toward continuing legal education requirements in most states, and will provide insight into how these technologies affect attorney duties under the rules of professional conduct, and practical guidance about using them in harmony with the rules.  The talk will focus in particular on the duty of confidentiality, how the ethical requirement of competence means that attorneys need to know enough about the technology they’re using in order to competently protect client confidences, and tips and techniques to accomplish that goal.
